This 100% hands-off ethical elephant experience is the first of its kind in Phuket and offers visitors a completely non-intrusive glimpse into the lives of our rescued elephants at Phuket Elephant Sanctuary. You will learn about the Asian Elephants’ plight, observe our elephants as they roam around, bathe and sozialize freely, and help prepare nutritious, supplementary food for our herd.
Your visit starts with a scenic drive to our Tree Top Lounge, where we show you an educational documentary to prepare you for your visit and to understand why Asian elephants need to be protected. You then meet Kannika and Madee, the first 2 elephants at PES, before helping us prepare supplementary food for the elephants. Depending on the day, we may prepare nutritious rice balls or “Khao Tom Mat”, which consists of sticky rice, mashed bananas, salt and sugar, all wrapped in a large banana leaf.
We then head out and explore the sanctuary with one of our experienced tour guides and observe the elephants as they forage, roam around and bathe freely. The delicious supplementary snacks are then delivered into the jungle, where you will sit quietly and observe the elephants as they devour their nutritious food.
While the nutritious snacks are steamed, you explore the sanctuary with one of our experienced tour guides and observe the elephants as they forage, roam around and bathe freely. The delicious Khao Tom Mat packets are then delivered into the jungle, where you will sit quietly and observe the elephants as they devour their nutritious food.
Towards the end of the afternoon we follow the elephants up to our Tree Top Lounge. While the elephants retire to their night shelters, you will enjoy a sumptuous, Thai vegetarian dinner buffet to end the day.
